Scholars receiving more than $12,000 per year in a merit-based award may experience a reduction in award amount if they choose off-campus housing. Housing reviews are conducted each fall and spring semester and award adjustments are made prior to the semester’s Add/Drop date.
Scholars Program Students: Several UMBC scholar programs require students accepted into their program to live on-campus on their Living Learning Community (LLC) dormitory floor. Students should refer to their scholarship agreement and/or contact their program director to confirm specific residency requirements.
Walker Avenue Apartment Residents: Scholars residing in Walker Avenue Apartments are considered on-campus residents.
Study Abroad: Scholars are eligible to receive their full award amount if approved for a Study Abroad semester.
For additional information, scholars are encouraged to maintain a copy of their scholarship agreement to reference their award terms and conditions.
UMBC is committed to creating an accessible, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors.
