What Is Profile Sharing?
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of student education records by limiting the disclosure of such records. A student may request that UMBC disclose records by sharing their own profile with another person. You may direct UMBC to share your profile with as many people as you wish.
The person with whom you share your profile, may access the educational or other records through myUMBC. You may also grant this person the ability to contact university offices by phone, email or in person to access your records.
How Do I Share My Profile?
For instructions on how to provide a person access to your scholarship information, please see our Profile Sharing Instructions. If you have trouble or are interested in sharing another section of your myUMBC, visit the university’s Profile Sharing FAQs for more information.
What are the Technical Requirements for Profile Sharing?
Please be aware that sharing your profile requires the authorized person to have a myUMBC, Google+ (Gmail), or Microsoft, or Amazon account to complete the process. If the person you wish to share your information with is someone who does not have one of these accounts but you would like them to be able to call, email or visit our office and obtain information, please fill out the Authorization to Disclose Information Form.
Electronic form not working? Please try viewing the form in IE or Firefox. New students should also upgrade their myUMBC account if not already completed.
